Who
we are
We are Bill and Karrie. We have been exploring our horse interests since we were in college, learning and growing together over the years. In 2019 we first learned about driving and draft horses at the Cook Sleigh Ride, and were immediately intrigued by them. We then joined the North Star Driving and Draft Club to learn more, and in the spring of 2024, we happily welcomed Pet and Patty into our family. We have thoroughly relished the joy they have brought us and love sharing them with friends, neighbors, and anyone interested.
Who they are…
“The Girls” are full sisters. We bought them at the country’s biggest horse sale in Waverly, Iowa on April 5, 2024. We’d only ever been to an auction once, and that was a furniture auction over 20 years ago! We did a lot of homework and had many teams picked out to look at. We really wanted horses that were well trained, not too young or too old, able to go for periods without being worked, able to have their hooves trimmed without stocks, and ones that had not had their tails docked. What might seem like a list that would eliminate a lot of horses left us with over 30 teams to look at! We really liked these two, and the Amish that owned them were very nice. We bid on them, and we won them! We visit with their former owners at every spring sale, and they always ask how the team is doing.
